Generations of Faith for Priests |
Philadelphia, PA |
With the blessing of Metropolitan Stefan Soroka and under the organization of Rev. Volodymyr Popyk, the Director of the Office of Religious Education on February 6 and 7 the catechetical Workshop “Generations of Faith for Byzantine Churches” was held. This program’s implementation will give the opportunity to teach religion not only to youth but adults as well. This program will also give the opportunity to revitalize the teaching of the Church about the re-evangelization of the baptized and those who want to receive Baptism. This year in the fall the priests, the catechists, and volunteers will begin this work in their parishes. With the words of welcome by Bishop John Bura and Monsignor Peter Waslo the lessons began. They were conducted with the great enthusiasm by Sr. Ann Laszok, OSBM. Those in attendance at the workshop included 29 priests, 20 catechists, and 41 volunteers. The group lessons were especially interesting which has given the opportunity for deeper understanding of this program and the means for its realization. When we work for Christ, we always face the difficulties but with the faith in God’s help; looking optimistically in the future, and by making efforts we will be able to do what God and His Church want from us. We believe that the seed that had been sown in the souls of the seminar participants will sprout and yield a fruit hundredfold in our Archeparchy parishes. |
